About Mayumi Kobayashi

I currently live in Tokyo, but as a child I grew up in Iwate Prefecture, a vast and natural area in the Tohoku region of Japan.
My childhood experiences playing in the mountains, ocean, wooded areas, and  rivers have formed the basis of my creative activities.
I went on to Joshibi junior college of Art and Design, and studied mainly oil painting, but now I work with a variety of art materials.
I sometimes collage with acrylic paints, sometimes with watercolors, sumi ink, or pastels.
Japan Watercolor Federation, of which I am a member, holds exhibitions at the National Art Center Tokyo, and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum every year, and I exhibit there as well.
I also hold group and solo exhibitions.
